Key facts
- Pinner's pass rate was 49.7% in 2025/26 from 14,367 tests, in line with the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 14 of 24 centres in London (London average 49.1%), a mid-table pass rates in the region.
- The rate has been stable since 2021/22, moving between 48.4% (2022/23) and 50.8% (2023/24).
- Male candidates passed at 53.8% and female candidates at 45.6%, a gap of 8.2 points, wider than at most centres.
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 23.1 weeks since booking (longer than the national median of 11.9 weeks); the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 24 weeks ahead.
- 66.4% of the standard slots in the booking window were still unbooked in August 2026, which usually means a cancellation or new date is realistic here.
The hardest part of a Pinner test is getting one. Candidates taking a test in July 2026 had waited a median of 23 weeks from booking, roughly twice the national figure, and the first week with a reasonable share of free slots was six months out. Once you are in the car it is a fairly typical outer London suburban test, with a pass rate in line with the national average and a good deal of mini-roundabout work: 20 of them are mapped within 2.5 km of Tolcarne Drive, more than there are sets of traffic lights. Two thirds of the roads in that radius are 30 mph and most of the rest are 20. There is no dual carriageway and nothing rural, so the marks are won and lost on junctions, observation and speed on residential roads.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
Mini-roundabouts are the local hazard. There are 20 mapped within 2.5 km of the centre against 20 signalled junctions, which is an unusually high ratio for a London suburb, and they sit on roads narrow enough that two cars arriving together makes for an awkward few seconds. Signal for the exit, give way to the right, and go round the circle rather than over it. Examiners here see the painted circle driven across more often than any other single fault.
The larger roundabouts are fewer and better known. Northwood Hills Circus, Rayners Lane, Uxbridge Road, Windmill Hill and Bury Street are the named ones in the area, and they carry the heavier traffic on the B466, B469, B472 and the A4125.
Joel Street, Cuckoo Hill, Pinner Road, High Road Eastcote and Eastcote Road are the roads the practice loops on this page keep returning to. They are 30 mph shopping and through routes with parked cars, bus stops and side turnings close together, so the working width is often a single lane and meeting oncoming traffic between parked cars is constant.
The estates behind them are quieter and mostly 20 mph. Chamberlain Way, Green Lane and West End Lane are that sort of road, with straight kerbs and enough parked cars to make a pull-up on the right a real exercise. The drop from a 30 to a 20 needs to happen at the sign, not after it.
The loops run from 8.7 to 12.3 kilometres. The shortest of them has no roundabout at all and works Tolcarne Drive and the streets around it, which makes it the useful one for manoeuvre practice.

Test day at Pinner
The centre is at 221 Tolcarne Drive, a residential road rather than a business estate, so look for the number on the building. Nothing is published about candidate parking, and on a road like this it is safest to assume there is none reserved. Most instructors drop candidates at the door and find a space on a nearby street, which is what typically happens at centres in a residential setting.
Northwood Hills station is under a kilometre away, which makes Pinner one of the easier London centres to reach on your own if your instructor is meeting you there. Allow ten minutes for the walk.
DVSA publishes no accessibility line for this centre, only a note that it will make arrangements for candidates with a disability. That is not the same as confirmed step-free or wheelchair access, so ring ahead and ask if you need it. The centre runs car tests and ADI part 2 and part 3; there are no motorcycle tests here.
The examiner calls you by name, checks your licence and asks you to sign the insurance declaration before you go out together. The eyesight check is done on Tolcarne Drive itself. Tests are booked, moved and cancelled through GOV.UK only.
