LGV and HGV test centres: lorry test pass rates
Lorry tests are split in two. The manoeuvres exercise is done off road on a marked area, and the driving test proper is about an hour on public roads, with uncoupling and recoupling added for trailer categories. Unlike car tests, most of these run from private training grounds under contract to DVSA rather than from a DVSA test centre, which is why the list below mixes familiar centre names with training companies.
A dash means DVSA suppressed the number because too few tests were taken there to publish without identifying candidates. Some sites publish a pass rate but not the underlying counts for the same reason.
Reading the table
DVSA still labels these LGV (large goods vehicle). HGV is the older term and means the same thing.
Several of these sites are training companies that host DVSA tests. The pass rate belongs to the candidates who tested there, not to the company: it reflects who books, how much training they had and what the local roads are like, and a site that trains beginners will read lower than one that mostly tests experienced drivers adding a category.
Pass rates at small sites move a long way on a handful of results, so treat anything under about fifty tests as indicative rather than a ranking. Car test centre figures, waiting times and route notes are in the car test centre directory.
