Controllers that work best

Best on a phone

Clip-on controller

Your phone sits in the middle, like a handheld console. No pairing and no battery to charge. Backbone One, Razer Kishi V2 and GameSir G8 Galileo all work. USB-C models fit Android and iPhone 15 or newer; older iPhones need the Lightning version.

Questions

Does PassRank work with a game controller?

Yes. The road drives (test routes, free drive and the mock test) and the parking manoeuvres work with any standard controller: Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro and clip-on phone controllers, in the app and in Chrome.

Do I need Bluetooth or Wi-Fi?

Bluetooth. Pair the controller in your phone's Bluetooth settings once; it reconnects by itself. Clip-on controllers plug into the charging port instead.

Can I use a steering wheel and pedals?

On a computer, and on Android through a USB-C adapter, a USB steering wheel and pedals can work: start a drive, open the pause menu and choose Steering wheel and controller to set up the wheel and pedals. iPhone does not let apps use steering wheels.

How do I go back to the touch controls?

Touch the screen. The touch controls come back straight away, and the controller takes over again as soon as you move its stick.

Ready? Pick a drive or a manoeuvre and move the stick.
