Key facts

  • Tottenham's pass rate was 48.9% in 2025/26 from 9,844 tests, in line with the national average of 50.0%.
  • That puts it 15 of 24 centres in London (London average 49.1%), a mid-table pass rates in the region.
  • Since 2021/22 the pass rate has risen by 4.9 points, from 44% to 48.9%.
  • Male candidates passed at 51.2% and female candidates at 45.6%, a gap of 5.6 points.
  • On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 10.3 weeks since booking; the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 24 weeks ahead.
  • A year earlier (August 2025) the median wait was 12.9 weeks, so waits have shortened by about 2.6 weeks.

Four out of five roads tagged around the Tottenham centre are 20 mph. The test is slow, dense and made almost entirely of turns. One of the practice loops on this page holds eighteen right turns and twelve left in under seven miles, and across all five there is a single roundabout. What you get instead is White Hart Lane, Lordship Lane, Victoria Road and the streets between them, plus the Great Cambridge Road, which is dual carriageway and a different world from everything around it. The pass rate has risen since 2021 and now sits mid-table for London, and the wait has come down by six weeks in a year.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.

Eighty per cent of the roads tagged within two and a half kilometres of the centre are 20 mph. That is the fact to build your preparation around. Almost everything other than one main road is a 20 zone with parked cars, side turnings and 69 schools inside the same radius.

The exception is the Great Cambridge Road. It is dual carriageway, it is the fastest thing in the area by a distance, and the loops both join and leave it. Getting up to the speed of the traffic already moving, then losing it again at the other end, is the only higher-speed driving in an otherwise slow test.

Everything else is junction work. White Hart Lane, Lordship Lane, Silver Street, Victoria Road and Sterling Way carry the bulk of it, and the loops are dense with turns: eighteen right turns on one, sixteen on another, fourteen and thirteen on two more. A right turn across oncoming traffic on a busy 20 mph road, with a queue behind you and someone waiting to cross, is what this test is made of.

Roundabouts barely appear. Only two named ones sit in the area, at Belmont Road and Smythe Close, though 25 mini-roundabouts are scattered through the residential streets. Three level crossings sit in the area as well.

The failure mode here is not one difficult junction. It is observation thinning out over thirty turns, and speed creeping over 20 on a road wide enough to feel like a 30.

Test day at Tottenham

The centre is the annex building at the Selby Centre on Selby Road, off White Hart Lane. It is a shared site rather than a standalone DVSA unit, so follow the signs for the driving test centre once you are in rather than looking for a separate entrance from the road.

DVSA runs car tests here and nothing else, which makes this a smaller operation than most London centres. Nothing is published about wheelchair access or other arrangements, so if you need step-free entry or anything else agreed in advance, ring the centre before the day.

Parking and waiting facilities are not published either. A shared site of this kind normally has some parking, but it is shared with everything else there, so arrive with time to find a space rather than counting on one by the door.

White Hart Lane station is about six hundred metres away, which is as close as London test centres get, and the buses along the High Road run past the end of the area.

Tests are booked, moved and cancelled only through GOV.UK. The wait is around ten weeks and six weeks shorter than a year ago, so getting a date here has become considerably easier than it was.
