Key facts
- Sevenoaks's pass rate was 59% in 2025/26 from 6,740 tests, 9 points above the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 6 of 30 centres in South East (South East average 52.9%), one of the higher pass rates in the region, 6.1 points above it.
- The rate has been stable since 2021/22, moving between 48.7% (2023/24) and 59.5% (2021/22).
- Male candidates passed at 57.2% and female candidates at 61.3%, a gap of 4.1 points.
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 10.4 weeks since booking; the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 14 weeks ahead.
- 40.5% of the standard slots in the booking window were still unbooked in August 2026, which usually means a cancellation or new date is realistic here.
Sevenoaks passes fifty-nine per cent of its candidates, which puts it fiftieth of the 302 centres ranked and sixth of the thirty in the South East. Part of the reason is what the practice loops on this page do not contain. There is not a single named roundabout on them. There are two mini-roundabouts, two give-way junctions and no traffic calming at all. What there is instead is turning: between nine and thirteen right turns on each loop and as many as sixteen lefts. Sixty-two per cent of the distance is at 30 mph and thirty-two per cent at 20, with a five per cent stretch of dual carriageway at 70.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
There are no roundabouts on these loops. Not one named roundabout in fifty-four kilometres, and only two mini-roundabouts and two give-way junctions across the whole set. For a centre in the South East that is unusual, and it means a Sevenoaks test is made almost entirely of turns at ordinary junctions and at lights.
Ten sets of traffic signals and seven signalled crossings sit on the loops, with ten zebra crossings alongside them. For a town this size that is a lot of pedestrian priority to read in one drive.
The turning is the work. Each of the five practice loops on this page holds between nine and thirteen right turns and between five and sixteen left, in ten to eleven kilometres. Brittains Lane, London Road, Knole Lane and Cold Arbor Road each carry one of them.
Speeds are town speeds for most of the drive, sixty-two per cent of the distance at 30 mph and thirty-two per cent at 20. The exception is a five per cent stretch of dual carriageway at 70. It is a different task from everything around it and it arrives after a run of Sevenoaks side streets, which is what makes it worth practising rather than reading about.
The A and B roads on the loops are the A224, the A225, the B2020 and the B2042. Dartford Road, Oak Lane, The Vine, Seal Hollow Road, Hitchen Hatch Lane, The Middlings and Middlings Rise carry the residential half. There is no level crossing and no traffic calming anywhere on the set, and twenty-two schools sit inside the area.

Test day at Sevenoaks
The centre is at 45 Argyle Road, TN13 1HJ. Car tests and ADI parts 2 and 3 run from here. DVSA says it will make arrangements at this centre for candidates with a disability, so ask when you book rather than on the day.
Sevenoaks station is under a kilometre away.
Nothing is published about parking. Argyle Road is a residential street close to the town centre, so the usual pattern applies: instructors use the surrounding streets rather than expecting a space at the door.
Waits have grown. A median of 10.4 weeks for tests taken in July 2026, against 8 weeks a year earlier, and the first week with a tenth of its appointments still free was twenty-four weeks out. Tunbridge Wells, sixteen kilometres away, passes 64.5 per cent and was waiting about the same, which makes it worth checking before you commit to a date here.
One local pattern: women passed at 61.3 per cent and men at 57.2. Tests are booked, moved and cancelled only through GOV.UK.
