Key facts

  • Glasgow's pass rate was 47.4% in 2025/26 from 10,428 tests, 2.6 points below the national average of 50.0%.
  • That puts it 58 of 67 centres in Scotland (Scotland average 49.3%), one of the lower pass rates in the region, 1.9 points below it.
  • The rate has been stable since 2021/22, moving between 44.4% (2024/25) and 47.4% (2025/26).
  • On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 18.3 weeks since booking (longer than the national median of 11.9 weeks); the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 24 weeks ahead.
  • 44.8% of the standard slots in the booking window were still unbooked in August 2026, which usually means a cancellation or new date is realistic here.

Baillieston is a turning test. Across the five practice loops on this page the turns come at roughly one every three hundred metres over 46 km, and there are appreciably more of them to the right than to the left. There is almost no stretch where you hold a lane and let the road run.

One thing is worth settling before you drive. Scotland kept the 30 mph default on restricted roads when Wales dropped to 20 in 2023, and it shows here: 78 per cent of the tagged roads within a couple of miles of this centre are 30 mph and only 13 per cent are 20. Learners who have read about the Welsh change sometimes arrive expecting 20 everywhere and drive the whole test slow. That reads as hesitation and gets marked.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.

Springhill Parkway does most of the work. It is the estate's main road, it carries a large share of the 25 roundabout manoeuvres on the practice loops on this page, and the same junction shape comes back at you repeatedly with different traffic on it. The upside is that you can learn it properly. The downside is that a habit you have not fixed gets exposed five times in one test.

Baillieston Roundabout is the significant one off the estate, with Springcroft Crescent, Swinton Crescent and the Greenoakhill junctions filling in around it. Edinburgh Road is the fast element of the test, the road where the limit rises and traffic moves at a pace the estate never reaches, and joining it means matching that pace rather than emerging slowly and hoping.

The residential driving is dense. Rhindmuir Road, Rhindmuir Drive, Swinton Road and South Scott Street are the Garrowhill and Baillieston streets where the reversing manoeuvres are usually set. Westerhouse Road, Lochdochart Road and Easterhouse Road run through Easterhouse on wider, more open carriageways with long sightlines, and the temptation there is to let the speed creep on a 30 that feels like a 40. Glasgow Road brings you into Baillieston itself, where the road narrows and parking tightens.

The turn count is the thing to prepare for. With a turn every few hundred metres and only 21 signal-controlled junctions in the area to break the rhythm, the mirror, signal, position routine has to be quick and automatic. Candidates come unstuck here far more often through observation slipping under repetition than through anything difficult the roads throw at them.

Test day at Glasgow

The centre is at 341 Springhill Parkway, inside Glasgow Business Park on the eastern edge of the city. It is one unit among many on a modern estate, so the number matters more than the postcode when you are looking for it.

Parking for candidates is on site, with level access into the building, and male, female and accessible toilets are provided. The centre runs car tests and ADI part 2 and part 3.

Getting here without a car is easier than the setting suggests. Easterhouse station is four hundred metres from the centre, one of the shorter walks to any test centre in Scotland, and buses run on Edinburgh Road and Easterhouse Road.

The estate follows office hours. Between roughly eight and nine in the morning, and again at five, the parkway fills with commuter traffic and vans, and the roundabouts on it back up. A slot in the middle of the day means a quieter car park and a much calmer first two minutes, which on this route is a real advantage.

Waits at Baillieston run well above the national median and have grown over the past year, so book early. Booking, moving and cancelling tests is done only through GOV.UK.
