Key facts
- Bishopbriggs's pass rate was 49.8% in 2025/26 from 6,186 tests, in line with the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 51 of 67 centres in Scotland (Scotland average 49.3%), one of the lower pass rates in the region.
- The rate has been stable since 2021/22, moving between 49.8% (2025/26) and 51.6% (2022/23).
- Male candidates passed at 47.2% and female candidates at 53.3%, a gap of 6.1 points, wider than at most centres.
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 16 weeks since booking (longer than the national median of 11.9 weeks); the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 24 weeks ahead.
- A year earlier (August 2025) the median wait was 13.1 weeks, so waits have grown by about 2.9 weeks.
Bishopbriggs tests on the edge of Glasgow, and the edge is the point. Just under a quarter of the roads mapped around the centre are 20 mph and about half are 30, but roughly one in nine carries the national speed limit, because the town runs out into open country towards Torrance and Cadder within a couple of miles. A route can go from a residential 20 to a 60 mph road with hedges and no footway inside ten minutes, and the judgement that suits one is wrong for the other. Kirkintilloch Road and Crosshill Road carry most of the town driving. The pass rate is about the national average and has been steady for years, which still puts Bishopbriggs above every Glasgow centre near it.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
Two of the practice loops on this page pass twelve roundabouts in under eleven kilometres, and the named ones around the town do most of that work: Torrance, Cadder, Auchinairn, Greenacres, Peel Park and Kelvinbridge. These are not city-centre roundabouts with three lanes painted across them. They are the open kind on distributor roads, and the fault they produce is entering too slowly after a long look, then hesitating into a gap that has already closed.
Kirkintilloch Road is the main street and the busiest thing on the routes, with shops, buses, side turnings and people crossing between parked cars. Crosshill Road, Wester Cleddens Road and Westerhill Road link it to the estates and to the industrial ground east of the town.
The estate roads are the 20 mph half. Inverary Drive, Hillside Drive, Ailsa Road and Mailing Avenue are that kind of street, straight kerbs with parking down one side, and they are the usual place for a manoeuvre.
Then there is the country half. About one road in nine mapped around the centre is a 60 mph road, and the loops reach them north and east of the town. National speed limit does not mean drive at sixty. It means read the bend, the hedge line and the surface, and pick a speed you could stop from. Undue hesitation and inappropriate speed are both marked out there, and out there is where the two meet.

Test day at Bishopbriggs
The centre is on Crosshill Road. GOV.UK lists one test type here and one only: car. There is no motorcycle testing and no ADI part 2 or part 3, so if you are booking anything other than a car test, check the centre before you travel.
No accessibility information is published for this site at all, not even the general line about DVSA making arrangements for candidates with a disability. If access matters to you, ring the booking line in advance and ask about the entrance and the waiting area rather than turning up hoping.
Parking and facilities are not published either. What is typical for a unit like this is a handful of bays and a small waiting room, but typical is all that is, so plan on arriving about ten minutes before your slot with somewhere to leave the car nearby.
Bishopbriggs station is under two miles away, so a train arrival works if someone is meeting you, though most candidates come with an instructor.
The examiner will call you by name, check your licence and ask you to sign the declaration confirming the car is insured for the test. The eyesight check is done outside before you get in. Booking, moving and cancelling all go through GOV.UK.
