Key facts
- Slough's pass rate was 50.8% in 2025/26 from 10,509 tests, in line with the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 21 of 30 centres in South East (South East average 52.9%), one of the lower pass rates in the region, 2.1 points below it.
- Since 2021/22 the pass rate has risen by 3.8 points, from 47% to 50.8%.
- Male candidates passed at 54.1% and female candidates at 46.8%, a gap of 7.3 points, wider than at most centres.
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 6 weeks since booking (shorter than the national median of 11.9 weeks); the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 24 weeks ahead.
- 49.2% of the standard slots in the booking window were still unbooked in August 2026, which usually means a cancellation or new date is realistic here.
The centre is called Slough, but you will do very little driving in Slough. It sits on Waterside Drive beside Langley station, and the practice loops on this page work Langley, the lanes towards Ditton Park and the roads out past Billet Lane rather than the town-centre one-way system.
The mix is what makes it. Only about one road in nine within a couple of miles of the centre is 20 mph. Just over four in ten are 30, and more than a third are 40, which is a high share for a suburban centre. You spend much of this test on roads where the limit is higher than the surroundings suggest, and judging that correctly is most of the assessment.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
Langley Road is the road to know. It runs north from the station area and carries more of the roundabout work than any other road on these loops, so the same decision sequence keeps repeating: read the layout early, choose the lane, signal the exit. Across the five practice loops on this page there are eleven roundabout manoeuvres, and being comfortable with the ones on Langley Road covers most of them.
The urban section uses Station Road, London Road, the High Street and Langley Park Road. This is ordinary suburban driving with bus stops, side turnings, parked cars and crossings, and it is where observation faults appear rather than control faults. The estate work sits on Willoughby Road, Burroway Road, Kennett Road, Maplin Park and Billet Lane, which are quiet and tight and well suited to the reversing manoeuvres.
The part that surprises people is the lane driving. Trenches Lane and the roads out towards Mansion Lane are narrow, hedged and largely unlit, with bends that hide oncoming traffic and no pavement to speak of. Roughly one road in nine in the area is 60 mph, and a hedged lane carrying that limit is not a road to take at that speed. Matching your pace to what you can actually see is the judgement being assessed. Meeting a van on one of them means finding a passing place and using it without stopping dead.
Right turns outnumber left turns across the loops by a clear margin. Practise the ones onto and off Langley Road, where you are turning across traffic that is moving faster than it looks.

Test day at Slough
The centre is a unit at 12 Waterside Drive, on the business park by Langley station. It looks like the offices around it, so find the number rather than trusting a shopfront. There is step-free access into the building.
Two practical points matter more here than at most centres. First, there are no toilets at this centre, so use the station or a cafe on the way in rather than assuming you can go inside. Second, park in the marked DVSA bays and nowhere else, and do not use the car park to run through a manoeuvre. Candidates are asked to arrive no more than ten minutes before the appointment.
Getting here by train is easy in a way it is not at most test centres. Langley station is three hundred metres away, on the Elizabeth line, so the walk from the platform is a few minutes.
One piece of good news when you book. Waits at Slough are well below the national median and have fallen sharply over the past year, so this is one of the easier centres in the region to get a date at. Booking and cancelling is through GOV.UK only.
