Key facts
- Chertsey's pass rate was 52.9% in 2025/26 from 9,082 tests, 2.9 points above the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 15 of 30 centres in South East (South East average 52.9%), a mid-table pass rates in the region.
- The rate has been stable since 2021/22, moving between 49.4% (2023/24) and 53.5% (2021/22).
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 15.6 weeks since booking (longer than the national median of 11.9 weeks); the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 24 weeks ahead.
- A year earlier (August 2025) the median wait was 22.3 weeks, so waits have shortened by about 6.7 weeks.
- 45.9% of the standard slots in the booking window were still unbooked in August 2026, which usually means a cancellation or new date is realistic here.
Chertsey passes 52.9 per cent, 132nd of the 302 centres ranked and level with the South East average of 52.9. What defines the drive is roundabouts: ten named ones across the practice loops on this page, six mini-roundabouts besides, and one 10.4 kilometre loop that takes in eleven of them. Three level crossings sit on the set as well, which most test areas do not have at all. The loops are long — one runs to 18.5 kilometres — and two-thirds of the distance is at 30 mph with a quarter at 40. The wait is the catch: a median of 15.6 weeks against 11.9 nationally, though that is down sharply from 23 weeks a year ago.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
Roundabouts do the joining at Chertsey. Ten are named across the practice loops on this page — Guildford Road, Pyrcroft Road, Eastworth Road, Addlestonemoor, Thorpe Road, Chilsey Green Road, Bell Bridge Road, The Knoll, Green Lane and St Peter's Way — with six mini-roundabouts on top. One 10.4 kilometre loop takes in eleven of them, roughly one a kilometre, and two more loops carry eight each. Lane choice on the approach is what to get right: the fault that costs people here is taking the left lane and then wanting the far exit.
Three level crossings sit on the set. Stopping properly at a closed barrier, and not creeping up to the line, is worth doing once with your instructor rather than for the first time on the day.
No A-road appears anywhere on the loops. Every speed change is on ordinary roads — 67 per cent of the distance at 30 mph and 28 per cent at 40, with a little at 20 and 50. The loops are long by test standards, two of them 18.5 and 15.5 kilometres, so the drive lasts and concentration is part of what is being marked.
Guildford Road, Eastworth Road, Bell Bridge Road, Pyrcroft Road, Green Lane, Hanworth Lane, Thorpe Road and Almners Road carry most of the distance. Fifteen sets of traffic signals, twelve signalled crossings and three zebra crossings appear on the set, along with eleven pieces of traffic calming and 22 schools in the area.

Test day at Chertsey
The centre is Unit 4 at The Forum on Hanworth Lane, KT16 9JX — a unit in a business terrace rather than a building of its own. Chertsey station is 0.3 kilometres away, close enough to walk in a few minutes, which is unusual: most test centres need a car to reach.
Car tests run here, along with ADI part 2 and part 3. GOV.UK states that you can access this test centre if you use a wheelchair. Anything else you need, tell DVSA when you book rather than on the day.
Nothing is published about parking. On a small business terrace the sensible assumption is that the bays belong to the units, so allow time for a space on the surrounding roads.
The wait was a median of 15.6 weeks for tests taken in July 2026 against a national 11.9, and the first week with a tenth of its slots still free was 24 weeks ahead. It has come down a long way — a year earlier the median was 23 weeks.
If the date matters more than the ground, Slough is 14.1 kilometres away, passing 50.8 per cent at a wait of 6 weeks. Guildford passes 57.1 per cent at 9.6 weeks and 14.4 kilometres. Booking and cancelling is on GOV.UK only.
