Key facts
- Morden's pass rate was 51% in 2025/26 from 15,770 tests, in line with the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 11 of 24 centres in London (London average 49.1%), a mid-table pass rates in the region, 1.9 points above it.
- Since 2021/22 the pass rate has risen by 3.5 points, from 47.5% to 51%.
- Male candidates passed at 52.7% and female candidates at 49.1%, a gap of 3.6 points.
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 14.3 weeks since booking (longer than the national median of 11.9 weeks); the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 24 weeks ahead.
- A year earlier (August 2025) the median wait was 22.4 weeks, so waits have shortened by about 8.1 weeks.
Four level crossings sit inside the area Morden tests use, which is rare for suburban London and worth a lesson on its own. Most candidates have never stopped at one under examination. The rest of the picture is dense rather than fast: nearly three quarters of the roads around the centre are 20 mph, there are more than fifty mini-roundabouts within a couple of miles, and something over four hundred sets of traffic lights.
Morden is one of the better London centres to be tested at. It passes slightly more candidates than the national average, it has improved over the last few years, and the wait has come down by about six weeks since 2025. None of that makes the drive easy. It makes it fair.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
Almost everything close to the centre is 20 mph, and the 30s and the short 40 and 50 stretches only start once you are out towards the main roads. That mix is the thing to prepare for. You hold 20 through streets that feel like they should be quicker, then join the A24 and drive properly at speed in the same test.
The junction count is high even by London standards. More than fifty mini-roundabouts sit within a couple of miles, so the examiner will see you deal with several. Rolling through one without a proper look to the right loses tests here. The larger junctions have reputations. Rose Hill is a busy six-way roundabout where the A217, A297 and B278 meet, and it needs the lane picked before you are on it. The roundabout by Morden station is busy in every direction. Beverley roundabout and Malden Junction, out towards New Malden, are the fastest things you will meet. The Glade, Cardinal Avenue, Aultone Way and Seymour Avenue turn up on the quieter loops.
Bus lanes are a real hazard here, not a theoretical one. St Helier Avenue is the one to know, and there are more through Morden town centre. Read the times on the plate rather than assuming.
Then the level crossings. There are four in the area, the best known being West Barnes Lane at Motspur Park. The rule is simple and people still get it wrong. Never start across unless the far side is clear, and if the lights come on while you are on it, keep going.
Ninety-nine schools sit within the same radius, more than at most centres, and the practice loops on this page spend much of their time on exactly those streets.

Test day at Morden
The centre is at 10 Tudor Drive, in a residential street rather than a business park, and the part you use is upstairs. There is no lift, and the stairs up to the waiting room are narrow. If you cannot manage them, say so when you book: the examiner will come out and meet you at your car instead, which is the standard arrangement here.
There is no candidate car park. Instructors park on Tudor Drive itself or in the residential streets around it. Get there early enough to find a space you can pull out of cleanly, because your test starts the moment you move off from wherever you left the car, not at the end of the road.
Male and female toilets are inside. Beyond that the waiting room is small and the routine is the usual one: name called, licence checked, eyesight check outside, then away.
Two things about timing. The streets nearby serve a lot of schools, so the half hour either side of nine and of half past three is genuinely worse. And if your route runs past St Helier Hospital you should expect ambulances, pedestrians crossing where they like, and a one-way system that rewards knowing which lane you want in advance.
