Key facts

  • Isleworth's pass rate was 50.4% in 2025/26 from 12,687 tests, in line with the national average of 50.0%.
  • That puts it 12 of 24 centres in London (London average 49.1%), a mid-table pass rates in the region.
  • Since 2021/22 the pass rate has risen by 2 points, from 48.4% to 50.4%.
  • Male candidates passed at 52.3% and female candidates at 48%, a gap of 4.3 points.
  • On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 16.3 weeks since booking (longer than the national median of 11.9 weeks); the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 21 weeks ahead.
  • A year earlier (August 2025) the median wait was 10 weeks, so waits have grown by about 6.3 weeks.

Four out of every five roads around this centre are 20 mph. That single figure explains most of what happens on an Isleworth test. The car spends the drive in second and third gear, the speedometer matters more than usual, and the fault that ends more tests here than any manoeuvre is a few miles an hour over the limit on a clear stretch where 20 feels absurd.

The rest of the picture is junctions. There are 36 mini-roundabouts and 88 signalled junctions in the streets nearby, and one of the practice loops on this page contains 19 right turns and 17 left turns in barely ten kilometres without meeting a single roundabout. Isleworth passes about half of its candidates, which is mid-table for London, and the rate has been rising. The wait has roughly doubled in a year.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.

The 20 mph limit is the through-line of the whole test. About 80 per cent of the roads mapped near the centre are 20, with 30 mph on a small share and 40 on less again. Worton Road, Twickenham Road, London Road and the residential grid between them all sit in the low limit, and the examiner does not need a speed gun to see a needle sitting above the limit on a straight, empty stretch. Practise holding 20 without labouring the engine and without watching the dial instead of the road.

Junction density is the second problem. There are 88 signalled junctions and 36 mini-roundabouts in the area, and the loops on this page are built almost entirely from turns rather than islands: one 10.1 km loop has 19 right turns and 17 left turns and no roundabout at all. Right turns out of side roads onto Twickenham Road or London Road are where gaps are short and hesitation costs as much as impatience.

Fifty-four schools sit inside the area covered, which is high even by London standards. An afternoon slot means parked cars on both sides, adults stepping out between them and buses pulling in. Talbot Road, Cleveland Road, Worple Road and the streets off South Street are the kind of roads where manoeuvres are set, and where a pull-up on the right has real parked traffic to deal with.

Two other features are worth a look beforehand. Dual carriageway is within reach on the longer routes, the only place the speed rises properly, and there is one level crossing in the area. Drive over it once before the day so the approach and the markings are familiar.

Test day at Isleworth

The centre is in the Wireless Factory building on Fleming Way, off Worton Road. Isleworth station is about a kilometre away, so arriving by train and walking in is realistic, though most candidates come with an instructor.

DVSA publishes that you cannot access this test centre if you use a wheelchair. That is an unusually direct statement and it is worth acting on: if access is a problem, ring the booking line before the day and ask about the alternatives, because several other London centres are within a short drive.

Nothing is published about candidate parking. Fleming Way is a business road rather than a residential street, and units of this kind normally have some space, but treat that as typical and not as a guarantee. Give yourself a few minutes to find a legal space and walk back.

Only car tests and ADI part 3 tests are held here. There are no motorcycle tests and no ADI part 2. Tests are booked, moved and cancelled through GOV.UK and nowhere else.

Ten minutes before your slot is early enough. The examiner calls you by name, checks your licence and asks you to sign the declaration confirming the car is insured. The eyesight check is done outside on Fleming Way, reading a number plate on a parked car.
