Key facts
- Dundee's pass rate was 57.3% in 2025/26 from 3,742 tests, 7.3 points above the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 34 of 67 centres in Scotland (Scotland average 49.3%), a mid-table pass rates in the region, 8 points above it.
- The rate has been stable since 2021/22, moving between 57.3% (2025/26) and 61.3% (2022/23).
- Male candidates passed at 59.9% and female candidates at 54.7%, a gap of 5.2 points.
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 8.8 weeks since booking (shorter than the national median of 11.9 weeks); the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 15.8 weeks ahead.
- A year earlier (August 2025) the median wait was 12.3 weeks, so waits have shortened by about 3.5 weeks.
Roundabouts arrive early at Dundee and keep arriving. The centre sits in the Dunsinane industrial estate on the north-west side of the city, and the practice loops on this page carry between eight and eleven roundabouts each across ten to twelve kilometres. That is a roundabout every kilometre or so, with Strathmartine, Old Glamis and the junctions along Kingsway West among the named ones. The other half of the picture is speed: 35 per cent of the roads in the area are 20 mph, mostly residential streets that have been signed individually, and just over half are 30. Dundee passes more candidates than the Scottish average and the rate has been steady for several years, but a slot is not easy to find.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
Two things define the driving here. The first is roundabout volume. Within two and a half kilometres of the centre there are conventional roundabouts at Strathmartine, Old Glamis, Clepington Road, Dens Road, Riverside Drive, Perth Road, Hawkhill and Kingsway West, plus 15 mini-roundabouts and 34 signal-controlled junctions. Those counts describe the area rather than a single route, but the loops reflect them, with eight to eleven roundabouts on each.
There is dual carriageway in the area, and a multi-lane roundabout taken off one is where lane discipline gets marked. Pick the approach lane from the sign rather than from the car in front, hold the lane round, and check the nearside before you leave. On the smaller islands in the residential streets the fault is the opposite one, treating an empty mini-roundabout as a formality and not signalling the exit.
The second is the 20 mph share. Just over a third of the roads in the area are 20, and Scotland has not made 20 the default limit, so these are streets signed one at a time. That means the limit can change back to 30 at a junction with nothing to warn you but the sign. Coupar Angus Road, Strathmartine Road and Logie Street carry the busier 30 mph driving between the quieter zones.
There are 30 schools inside the same radius, more than at most centres of this size, so the residential streets used for manoeuvres are busy with pedestrians at either end of the school day. No level crossings sit within the area.

Test day at Dundee
The centre is Block 23B on Kilspindie Place, in the Dunsinane Industrial Estate. It is a unit on an estate road rather than a building with a frontage, so follow the estate in and look for the block number.
The range of tests is wide: car, motorcycle module 1 off-road and module 2 on-road, and ADI parts 2 and 3. Motorcycle candidates use the same site, so keep to the marked areas when you arrive and do not cut across the manoeuvring area.
GOV.UK publishes nothing about wheelchair access here, so access is not published. Ring DVSA ahead of the day if you need to know what the building offers.
Parking is not published. Industrial estate units usually have bays outside and space on the estate roads, which is typical rather than confirmed, so allow a few minutes rather than assuming a space at the door.
Dundee station is over three kilometres away on the other side of the city, so this is a centre most candidates reach by car, with an instructor. Tests are booked, moved and cancelled through GOV.UK only.
The examiner checks your licence, has you sign the insurance declaration and does the eyesight check on the estate. The drive begins on Dunsinane Avenue, and the first roundabout comes before you have settled.

This centre is not car only. DVSA publishes results for these categories separately, and they are taken by different candidates on different vehicles, so the rates are not comparable with the car figure above.

What examiners mark most often
DVSA does not publish faults by centre, but it does publish them nationally. These collected the most marks across every car test in Great Britain in 2025/26, and they are the same ones you will be marked on at Dundee.
