Key facts
- Bradford's pass rate was 56.1% in 2025/26 from 8,354 tests, 6.1 points above the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 7 of 27 centres in Yorkshire and The Humber (Yorkshire and The Humber average 50.4%), one of the higher pass rates in the region, 5.7 points above it.
- Since 2021/22 the pass rate has risen by 5.8 points, from 50.3% to 56.1%.
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 15.1 weeks since booking (longer than the national median of 11.9 weeks); the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 15.4 weeks ahead.
- A year earlier (August 2025) the median wait was 5.4 weeks, so waits have grown by about 9.7 weeks.
Seventy-three schools sit within two and a half kilometres of the Heaton test centre. That is the number to hold onto when you choose a time to book. The centre is a small unit on Farfield Street, a residential street off Toller Lane, and the roads around it are a mesh of short streets, side turnings and parked cars, with a quarter of the tagged roads in that radius at 20 mph. The practice loops on this page are made of turns rather than junctions: one holds eighteen right turns and ten left in under seven miles, and another has seventeen lefts. Bradford passes well above the national average and ranks seventh of twenty-seven centres in Yorkshire and the Humber.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
The counts for this centre describe the area rather than the loops. Within two and a half kilometres of Farfield Street there are 101 signalled junctions, 30 mini-roundabouts and only two named roundabouts, at Senior Way and Toller Lane. That ratio tells you what the test is: traffic lights and mini-roundabouts, hardly any full-sized roundabouts, and a great many ordinary give-way turns in between.
The practice loops on this page bear it out. Only one of the five has a roundabout on it at all. What they have instead is turning: eighteen right turns and ten left on one, fifteen and nine on another, eleven and seventeen on a third. A right turn out of a side street onto Toller Lane or Duckworth Lane, across a moving stream of traffic with somebody waiting behind you, is the shape of this test.
Thornton Road, Allerton Road, Haworth Road and Keighley Road carry the busier stretches, and Squire Lane, Heaton Road and the streets off them carry the quiet ones. Just over a quarter of the roads in the area are 20 mph and about an eighth are 40, so the limit changes often, and it changes between roads that look much the same.
With seventy-three schools inside that radius, the time of your test matters more here than at most centres. A mid-morning slot and a mid-afternoon slot are not the same drive on these roads. If you can choose, choose away from the school run. If you cannot, practise the streets near the schools at the hour you will be driving them.

Test day at Bradford
The centre is at 15 Farfield Street, off Toller Lane in Heaton. It is a small unit on a residential street rather than a building on a main road, so the postcode gets you to the street and the number gets you to the door.
DVSA runs car tests and ADI part 3 here. The record says DVSA will make arrangements for candidates who have a disability, which is not a statement about step-free access, so ring ahead and say what you need.
Parking is not published, and on a street like this the kerb space belongs to the people who live there. Instructors know where they put the car. If you are coming in your own, do not assume there is a space outside, and leave time to walk.
Frizinghall is the nearest station, about a mile and a half away, so most candidates arrive by car.
The median wait was around fifteen weeks in July, ten weeks longer than a year earlier, which is a large jump in twelve months. Against that, more than a quarter of the standard slots in the booking window were still unbooked, so checking for a cancellation is worth the effort here. Tests are booked, moved and cancelled only through GOV.UK.
