Key facts
- Weston-super-Mare's pass rate was 61% in 2025/26 from 4,443 tests, 11 points above the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 3 of 21 centres in South West (South West average 51.7%), one of the higher pass rates in the region, 9.3 points above it.
- Since 2021/22 the pass rate has risen by 6.7 points, from 54.3% to 61%.
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 5 weeks since booking (shorter than the national median of 11.9 weeks); the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 21.4 weeks ahead.
- A year earlier (August 2025) the median wait was 14.3 weeks, so waits have shortened by about 9.3 weeks.
Weston-super-Mare has one of the higher pass rates in the South West, third of the twenty-one centres in the region on the latest figures and 11 points above the national average. That is worth knowing, but it is not a reason to relax, because the routes are not simple. The centre is on the North Industrial Estate off Sunnyside Road, three hundred metres from the station, and the practice loops on this page run from the estate through the town to Marine Parade and Beach Road and back. Seafront roads, a grid of older residential streets and a ring of roundabouts including Windwhistle Circle all turn up in the same test. The wait is short by national standards, though new slots are released a long way out.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
Two thirds of the roads tagged within two and a half kilometres of the centre are 30 mph, with 14 per cent at 40 and 13 per cent at 20. Nothing is above 50, so this is not a fast test. It is a busy one instead.
Roundabouts come thick and fast. Seven mini-roundabouts and six named conventional ones are tagged in the area, among them Windwhistle Circle and those on Locking Road, Winterstoke Road and Drove Road. The practice loops on this page carry between three and eleven roundabout entries each, and the shortest loop of the five has ten of them in under seven kilometres. Approach lane, signal and exit have to be automatic by the time you sit the test, because there is very little recovery time between one roundabout and the next.
Twenty sets of traffic signals are tagged in the area as well, which for a town of this size means the junction work does not let up between the roundabouts.
The seafront is its own problem. Marine Parade and Beach Road are wide, straight and busy with people on foot who are not thinking about traffic. In summer they also carry visitor traffic that behaves unpredictably: cars slowing to look for a space, doors opening on the offside, pedestrians crossing well away from the crossings. If your test falls in the holiday season, practise there in those conditions rather than on a quiet weekday morning and assuming it will be the same.
Manoeuvres are usually asked for in the residential grid off Addicott Road, Brighton Road and Alfred Street.

Test day at Weston-super-Mare
The centre is at Plot 11, Sunnyside Road, on the North Industrial Estate. Estate units are addressed by plot rather than building name, so follow the estate road round and look for the plot number instead of a frontage on the main road.
Weston-super-Mare station is only a few hundred metres away, unusually close for an industrial estate centre, so arriving by train is genuinely practical here.
On access, GOV.UK publishes that DVSA will make arrangements for candidates with a disability. It does not publish whether the centre is step-free, so ring ahead if that matters to you. Car tests and ADI parts 2 and 3 are held here, and no motorcycle tests.
Parking is not published. Industrial plots normally have bays and hardstanding outside, which is typical rather than confirmed.
Arrive about ten minutes before your slot. The examiner checks your licence, has you sign the insurance declaration and does the eyesight check on the estate. The first stretch is estate road, wide and quiet, before the route joins the town proper.
One quirk of the booking figures is worth understanding. The median wait is around five weeks, but the first week with a decent share of free slots was over twenty weeks ahead. A short median is not the same as booking a test five weeks from today.

This centre is not car only. DVSA publishes results for these categories separately, and they are taken by different candidates on different vehicles, so the rates are not comparable with the car figure above.
