Key facts
- Bridlington's pass rate was 55.5% in 2025/26 from 3,027 tests, 5.5 points above the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 8 of 27 centres in Yorkshire and The Humber (Yorkshire and The Humber average 50.4%), one of the higher pass rates in the region, 5.1 points above it.
- Since 2021/22 the pass rate has fallen by 4.5 points, from 60% to 55.5%.
- Male candidates passed at 59.3% and female candidates at 51.8%, a gap of 7.5 points, wider than at most centres.
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 11.9 weeks since booking; the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 23 weeks ahead.
- 33.7% of the standard slots in the booking window were still unbooked in August 2026, which usually means a cancellation or new date is realistic here.
Bridlington runs almost entirely at 30 mph. Of the roads tagged within two and a half kilometres of the centre, 87 per cent are 30 and only 6 per cent are 20, so the test is less about changing speed than about holding one speed cleanly through junction after junction. The centre is on Enterprise Way, on the Bessingby industrial estate at the southern edge of town, and the loops run out into the estates and back down through the older streets around Quay Road and Kirkgate. Around 3,000 car tests are taken here each year. The pass rate is one of the higher ones in Yorkshire and the Humber, though it has slipped since 2021, and the wait is close to the national median.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
Nearly everything is a 30, and that shapes the marking. With 87 per cent of the roads in the area tagged at 30 mph and barely any at 20, the faults that show up here are the ones that come from settling into a speed and stopping thinking: late mirror checks, drifting on the approach to a junction, and speed that creeps up between junctions on Bessingby Road and Scarborough Road.
The junction mix within two and a half kilometres of the centre is 16 signal-controlled junctions and 7 mini-roundabouts. Those counts describe the area, not any single loop, because the roads around a centre are what the routes are built from. Conventional roundabouts are named at Wilsthorpe, Martongate, Hustler Road, Sewerby Crescent and Scarborough Road. Seven mini-roundabouts in a town this size means most candidates will meet at least one, and the usual faults apply: signal for the exit you are taking and steer round the painted circle rather than over it.
Two level crossings sit inside the same radius. Approach either at a speed that lets you stop, and do not move on to the crossing without a clear exit beyond it.
The practice loops on this page run between 10.7 and 12.5 km, each with three or four roundabouts and a dozen or so turns in each direction. One takes in a stretch of Woldgate, which is the closest the routes come to open country. With 12 schools in the area, timing matters too: a test in the middle of a school run is a different drive from the same route at eleven in the morning.

Test day at Bridlington
The centre occupies units 23 and 24 on Enterprise Way, part of the Bessingby industrial estate to the south-west of the town. You are looking for unit numbers on an estate road rather than a shopfront on a main street, so give yourself a minute to find the right block.
GOV.UK publishes that you can access this centre if you use a wheelchair. The tests offered are car and ADI part 3. There are no motorcycle tests here, so everything on site on the day will be cars.
Parking is not published. Estate units of this kind usually have bays outside and room on the estate roads, which is typical rather than confirmed, so plan to park and walk back rather than counting on a space at the door.
Bridlington station is under a kilometre away and walkable, although most candidates arrive with an instructor. Tests are booked, moved and cancelled through GOV.UK only.
The examiner calls you by name, checks your licence and asks you to sign the declaration that the car is insured for the test. The eyesight check is done on the estate. The first stretch is quiet industrial road, and then Bessingby Way puts you into ordinary town traffic.
