Key facts
- Aberfeldy's pass rate was 68.5% in 2025/26 from 149 tests, 18.5 points above the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 10 of 67 centres in Scotland (Scotland average 49.3%), one of the higher pass rates in the region, 19.2 points above it.
- Since 2012/13 the pass rate has risen by 21.4 points, from 47.1% to 68.5%.
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 20.3 weeks since booking (longer than the national median of 11.9 weeks); the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 6 weeks ahead.
- A year earlier (August 2025) the median wait was 14.1 weeks, so waits have grown by about 6.2 weeks.
- 53.8% of the standard slots in the booking window were still unbooked in August 2026, which usually means a cancellation or new date is realistic here.
Aberfeldy is one of the smallest driving test centres in the country. Around 149 car tests were taken here over the year, and that single fact should colour everything else you read about it. A pass rate near the top of the national table sounds like an easy centre. On this few tests it is not evidence of much, because a dozen results either way moves the figure by several points. The roads tell you more. Well over half the loop length on the practice loops on this page is 20 mph, a sixth is at national speed limit, and there is very little in between. The centre is in the Town Hall on Crieff Road.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
Aberfeldy is a slow test. Fifty-seven per cent of the loop length on the practice loops on this page is 20 mph and only a tenth is 30. Holding an accurate 20 on a street that feels wider than the limit suggests is the thing the examiner sees most of, and there is only one traffic calming feature across the loops to help you judge it.
The other end of the range is the reason not to treat Aberfeldy as a gentle test. A sixth of the loop length is at national speed limit and about the same again is 40 mph, on the roads out along the river and up towards Urlar Road. The change from 20 to 60 happens over a short distance, and both directions of that change get marked.
There are two mini-roundabouts on the loops and no conventional roundabout. The fact pack records no give-way junctions at all, which is more likely a gap in the mapping than a description of the town, so do not plan on never meeting one. What it does say is that the junction work you can count on is sparse: two mini-roundabouts, five sets of signals and four signalled crossings across the whole set.
The loops run from 5.5 km to 11.7 km. The shortest stays in the town around Mill Street and Bank Street with more than twenty turns packed into it, which is the loop to drive if you want manoeuvring practice. The longest goes out by Kenmore Road. Breadalbane Terrace, Tayside Place and Poplar Avenue are the other names that recur.

Test day at Aberfeldy
The centre is in the Town Hall on Crieff Road, in the middle of Aberfeldy. It is a shared civic building rather than a DVSA unit, so the room used for tests is not signposted from the street and the entrance is the town hall's own. DVSA publishes that you can access this centre if you use a wheelchair. Car tests are the only tests offered.
Nothing is published about parking for candidates or a waiting room. A town hall usually has neither set aside, which is typical rather than confirmed, so plan to park nearby and wait in the car.
At a centre taking around 149 tests a year, testing is unlikely to run every weekday. DVSA publishes nothing about which days it does run here, so the booking system is the only guide. If dates appear in clusters rather than spread through the month, that is why.
The wait has grown by about seven weeks over the past year and now runs at around twenty weeks, though slots have been appearing sooner than that, so cancellations are worth watching. Pitlochry is thirteen kilometres away and Perth about thirty-four. Booking, moving and cancelling tests is only through GOV.UK.
