Key facts
- Yeovil's pass rate was 63.4% in 2025/26 from 7,493 tests, 13.4 points above the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 2 of 21 centres in South West (South West average 51.7%), one of the higher pass rates in the region, 11.7 points above it.
- The rate has been stable since 2021/22, moving between 59.7% (2023/24) and 64.5% (2021/22).
- Male candidates passed at 65.2% and female candidates at 61.4%, a gap of 3.8 points.
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 16.3 weeks since booking (longer than the national median of 11.9 weeks); the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 20 weeks ahead.
- A year earlier (August 2025) the median wait was 13.1 weeks, so waits have grown by about 3.2 weeks.
Eighty per cent of the roads tagged around the Yeovil centre are 30 mph. That is about as uniform a speed profile as a test centre gets, and it means this test is not really about reading limit changes. It is about roundabouts. Eight named ones sit in the area, Quicksilver, Fiveways, Keyford, Houndstone Corner and Kingston among them, with ten mini-roundabouts behind them, and the busiest of the practice loops on this page takes in ten roundabouts in under eight miles. The centre is in the Abbey Manor Business Centre on Preston Road, on the north-western side of town. Yeovil's pass rate is the second highest of the 21 South West centres, though the wait for a slot runs longer than the national median.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
Yeovil is a roundabout test with an unusually flat speed profile behind it. Eighty per cent of the roads tagged nearby are 30 mph and only seven per cent are 20, so once you have settled into a 30 you largely stay there. What changes is the junctions.
The practice loops on this page carry ten, eight, eight, seven and three roundabouts. Quicksilver, Fiveways, Keyford, Houndstone Corner, Combe Street Lane and Kingston are the named ones, with ten mini-roundabouts among them. Roundabouts in series is the pattern, and along Preston Road and Western Avenue the exit of one is very nearly the approach to the next.
Only twenty-four sets of traffic signals sit within two and a half kilometres, which is low. Most junctions here are give-way or roundabout, so the decisions belong to you rather than to a light. That is why observation rather than obedience is what gets marked at this centre.
There is dual carriageway in range and a small share of 60 mph road out towards the western and southern edges, so a longer loop can put you at national speed limit for a few minutes before dropping you back into a 30. West Coker Road and Thorne Lane are the stretches that take the loops out that way.
There are no level crossings at all in the area, and only seventeen schools, so the stop-start school-run driving that shapes tests in bigger towns is largely absent.
Manoeuvres go on the quieter roads around the business park and the estates off Larkhill Road, Stiby Road and Bluebell Road, where the kerbs are straight and there is room to reverse without an audience.

Test day at Yeovil
The centre is Suite 2 in the Abbey Manor Business Centre on Preston Road, north-west of Yeovil. It is a suite inside a shared business building rather than a standalone DVSA unit, so follow the signs for the test centre once you are on site.
Car tests are conducted here along with ADI part 3, and there are no motorcycle tests. Nothing is published about wheelchair access or other arrangements, so if you need step-free entry, or anything agreed before the day, ring the centre.
Parking is not published. A business centre of this kind normally has a car park shared with the other tenants, which is typical rather than confirmed, so arrive with time to find a space instead of expecting one by the entrance.
No station is close enough to walk from, so nearly everyone arrives with an instructor or is dropped off.
The examiner calls you by name, checks your licence and asks you to sign the declaration that the car is insured for the test. The eyesight check is done outside on the business park. Tests are booked, moved and cancelled only through GOV.UK. The wait here runs longer than the national median, at over sixteen weeks, so book as early as you can and keep watching for cancellations.
