Key facts
- Norwich's pass rate was 61.7% in 2025/26 from 12,541 tests, 11.7 points above the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 2 of 24 centres in East of England (East of England average 51.4%), one of the higher pass rates in the region, 10.3 points above it.
- Since 2021/22 the pass rate has risen by 4.8 points, from 56.9% to 61.7%.
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 10.1 weeks since booking; the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 24 weeks ahead.
- 31.3% of the standard slots in the booking window were still unbooked in August 2026, which usually means a cancellation or new date is realistic here.
Norwich tests out of Broadlands Business Park at Thorpe St Andrew, and the roundabout count is what marks it out. One of the practice loops on this page passes 18 of them in under 13 kilometres, another has 16, and the quietest still has eight. Eight roundabouts are named in the area around the centre, from Peachman Way and Dussindale Drive out to Blue Boar Lane and Aerodrome Road, with eight mini-roundabouts on top. Traffic lights barely feature at all: only nine signalled junctions are mapped within 2.5 km. Norwich has one of the highest pass rates in the East of England and it has been rising since 2021, but that reflects the shape of the roads rather than a soft test. Get a lane wrong on a roundabout here and there is another one along in a minute.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
Everything here is about lane discipline on a roundabout approach. Yarmouth Road is the road most of the practice loops on this page lean on, and it strings roundabouts together closely enough that the exit of one is the approach to the next. Broadland Way, Dussindale Drive, Peachman Way, Stanmore Road, Witard Road, Blue Boar Lane and Aerodrome Road carry the rest of them. The busiest loop has 18 roundabouts in it, and even the quietest has eight, so an early mistake is not something you can put behind you.
Because the business park roads are wide, new and often empty, the danger is treating them as formalities. The observation, the mirror and the signal are marked whether or not anything is coming.
The area also holds an unusual amount of variety in speed. Around a fifth of the roads mapped within 2.5 km are 20 mph, half are 30, and a small share run at 60 and 70, which is the Broadland Northway end of the network. Moving between those in a short distance is the thing that catches people out, particularly the drop coming back into the built-up roads.
Five level crossings sit within that same radius. A barrier down is a genuine possibility on a Norwich test, so know what you do at one: stop behind the line, wait, and do not creep.
Manoeuvres are usually set on the quieter residential roads off the main ones, where there is a straight kerb and steady parking. Green Lane North, Cranley Road, Oaks Lane and Old Chapel Way are that kind of street. The loops run between 9.8 and 12.8 kilometres.

Test day at Norwich
The centre is at Plot 16A on Peachman Way, inside Broadlands Business Park. Modern estates like this one are laid out in loops with similar-looking units, so give yourself a few minutes to find the right plot number rather than the right road.
DVSA publishes no accessibility information for this centre. If you need step-free access or any other arrangement, ring the booking line ahead of the day rather than turning up and hoping. The record does confirm the test types: car, motorcycle module 1 off-road and module 2 on-road, and ADI part 2 and part 3. On a motorcycle day the site is busier than a car-only centre, which is worth knowing if you are looking for somewhere to leave the car.
There is no railway station in the mapped area around the centre, so essentially everyone arrives by road, most with an instructor. Nothing is published about parking or the waiting room, and describing either would be guesswork.
Aim to be there about ten minutes early. The examiner checks your licence, asks you to sign the declaration that the car is insured, and does the eyesight check outside on the business park. The first roundabout comes within a minute of moving off. Booking and cancelling happen only through GOV.UK.

This centre is not car only. DVSA publishes results for these categories separately, and they are taken by different candidates on different vehicles, so the rates are not comparable with the car figure above.

What examiners mark most often
DVSA does not publish faults by centre, but it does publish them nationally. These collected the most marks across every car test in Great Britain in 2025/26, and they are the same ones you will be marked on at Norwich.
