Key facts
- Kings Lynn's pass rate was 51.9% in 2025/26 from 6,694 tests, 1.9 points above the national average of 50.0%.
- That puts it 9 of 24 centres in East of England (East of England average 51.4%), a mid-table pass rates in the region.
- Since 2021/22 the pass rate has fallen by 2 points, from 53.9% to 51.9%.
- Male candidates passed at 53.9% and female candidates at 49.8%, a gap of 4.1 points.
- On waiting times, learners who took a test in August 2026 had waited a median of 15.4 weeks since booking (longer than the national median of 11.9 weeks); the first week with 10% or more of slots still free was 24 weeks ahead.
- 40.7% of the standard slots in the booking window were still unbooked in August 2026, which usually means a cancellation or new date is realistic here.
Kings Lynn passes 51.9 per cent of its candidates, a little above the national fifty and ninth of the twenty-four centres in the East of England. The practice loops on this page explain most of what a test here feels like: ten named roundabouts and twelve mini-roundabouts across sixty kilometres, with every loop carrying between five and nine of them. The other half of the story is speed. Half the distance is at 30 mph, but a fifth of it is at 60 and another fifth at 40, so you move between town driving and open road repeatedly inside one test. Three level crossings sit in the area. Waits have grown to 15.4 weeks.

The same access also opens the four test manoeuvres and eight roundabout scenarios: the two things a route drive cannot teach you.
Ten named roundabouts sit on these loops — Greenyard Way, Queen Elizabeth Way, Gayton Road, Beveridge Way, Hardwick Road, Scania Way, Vancouver Avenue, Constitution Hill, Out South Gates and De Grey Road — with twelve mini-roundabouts alongside them. Each of the five practice loops on this page carries between five and nine roundabouts in ten to thirteen kilometres. If choosing a lane early and holding it is not yet automatic, this is the centre that will find that out.
Speed is the second thing to practise. Half the distance is at 30 mph, but a fifth is at 60 and another fifth at 40, with five per cent at 50 and four per cent at 20. There is no dual carriageway anywhere on the set, so the 60 is ordinary single-carriageway road — the kind you meet heading out past the industrial estate and have to read for yourself.
Nineteen sets of traffic signals and eighteen signalled crossings, against only three zebras, so nearly all the pedestrian priority here arrives on a light rather than on a painted crossing. There are fourteen give-way junctions and ten pieces of traffic calming.
The streets that recur are Scania Way, Oldmedow Road, Greenyard Way, Gayton Road, Hardwick Road, Queen Elizabeth Way, Rollesby Road, Winston Churchill Drive, William Booth Road, Waveney Road, Beveridge Way and Hereford Way. No A-roads appear on the loops at all. Three level crossings sit in the area, and nineteen schools.

Test day at Kings Lynn
The centre is on Rollesby Road, on the Hardwick Industrial Estate, PE30 4LS. Car tests run from here, along with both motorcycle modules and ADI part 3.
King's Lynn station is 1.4 kilometres away — walkable, but not next door.
Nothing is published about parking or about step-free access. An industrial estate usually means space on the surrounding roads rather than a car park at the door, so ring ahead if you need either arranged.
The wait is the problem. A median of 15.4 weeks for tests taken in July 2026, against 11.9 weeks across Great Britain, and eleven weeks here a year earlier — about four and a half weeks added in twelve months. The first week with a tenth of its appointments still free was twenty-four weeks out. Boston is the nearest alternative at thirty-nine kilometres, passing 50.7 per cent with a wait of 4.5 weeks, which is a long drive in exchange for a much shorter queue.
One local pattern: men passed at 53.9 per cent and women at 49.8. Tests are booked, moved and cancelled only through GOV.UK.
